[What a mess things had been. Lancer hated, hated when this place dared to play with something as precious as his memories. If he hadn't been aware enough to realize something wasn't quite right, he could easily have killed Rin. And if he had done that again, for such a foolish reason...how could he ever live with himself?]

[But he hadn't, and now he was more than fairly certain his memories were back in order. It wasn't a shock to get something from the post office after that mess, but getting two things was unusual. The box held his armor--his proper armor this time, vibrant blue and silver. The envelope seemed to hold nothing, but when he opened it there was a sudden burning sensation in the back of his throat. Enough that he was sent into a coughing fit leaning against the door frame--once it stopped, Lancer cursed under his breath and immediately looked surprised.]

...the hell, did I just talk?

[Welcome back, loudmouth.]

[B; action; around Mayfield]

[If you are particularly attentive (or if he just feels like annoying you), you may see a Servant in blue around town--in a tree, perched on a streetlight, on top of the nearest building. Wherever he is, he's got the usual confident smirk on his face.]

[B; phone; locked to [livejournal.com profile] takeagandr]

Hey, kid.

[That was all he said. All he needed to say to get his message across. 'I can speak again, so we need to talk' was a given as far as he was concerned.]

[Those passing by today might be able to find Lancer walking out of his house holding a lance and leaning it against his shoulder; it was far more mundane than his Noble Phantasm, but a respectable weapon regardless. Unfortunately, having only the strength of a human made him realize how heavy and awkward a lance was. But he still had experience on his side if not physical strength.]

[With a casual shrug of his shoulders, Lancer walked off in the direction of the park.]

[B; park]

[Lancer had waited long enough--there was a regain he needed to test out, and the park was the only place with enough room.]

[He gripped the spear in his hands tightly, silently hoping this would at least start to compensate for this weak and slow form he was stuck with. Shifting his position, the Servant-turned-human concentrated the small amount of magical energy he had and traced a rune on the ground with his foot; Raidho, for speed enhancement. One thing at a time--odds were pretty good he'd be using this one a lot until he was back to normal.]

This had better work...

[Moving to run forward, Lancer came to one immediate conclusion--he was a little too used to being human.]

[As evidenced by the fact that one small speed boost was enough to get him to run straight into a tree.]

Son of a--! [Ow, ow, ow. That would be a headache for a while.]

[C; Mayfield General Store]

[After a lot of practice--with mishaps resulting in a few burns, bruises, and scratches--Lancer was pretty sure he'd managed to adjust to using runes again. With such a weak human form and small amount of magical energy to work with, however, things were proving difficult.]

[He walked out of the general store and back in the direction of home covered in a series of small injuries and carrying a first aid kit. All in all...really not a bad start in getting his abilities back.]

[Hey there, Mayfield. There's a good chance a lot of you are pretty pissed off about losing all your shiny new stuff. Lancer is, of course, no exception.]

What the hell just happened?!

[And when Lancer's angry, everyone's going to hear about it.]

Everything just disappeared--my lance, armor, my damned contract, and I'm human again! How can this place take things like that so easily?!

[WHACK. Sounds remarkably like someone just punched a wall, doesn't it? The next time Lancer speaks, it's somewhat calmer--but with the faintest tone of frustration.]

I don't know why I'm even wasting my time asking; it's not like anyone else will have the answers I want.

This isn't over. I'll get everything back if it kills me ten times over. This city won't stop me.

...tch. Just when I was starting to like this place, too.

[action]
[Later that night, Lancer could be found working his usual shift in the usual bar--and he looked notably less enraged than he'd sounded over the phone. Compared to the kind of fights he'd gotten a mere couple of days ago, now this just felt tedious and boring.]

[It struck him now more than ever how completely powerless he was like this. Even as a Servant, what could anyone do against this town's games when they could lose everything so easily? But he wouldn't be defeated. No, heroic spirit Cú Chulainn didn't know how to give up. No matter the nature of his opponent, he would find a way to win at any cost.]

[Approach if you so choose, but he still isn't in the best mood.]
